A Visit to the Dairy!

This was fantastic!
A good friend of ours, has a dairy...
He allowed me to bring my kids out and have a full tour!
It was Amazing!

Here is where they line the cow up to milk them...
twice a day...bringing in over 400 gallons of milk!
This hit home a little stronger, when we got home and the girls thought about our 2 gallons of milk!

He allowed them to stick their thumb in the milker...

Showing how the milk then goes through the pipe line!

I would have to say the highlight was the babies!

We also got to see how cheese is made!

Taste testing!!

It was Incredible!

This was Phase 1 in an attempt to gather the freshest ingredients....and learn about the process!
We are doing a book study...I can't wait to share the rest with you! =)

When all 4 kids lived at home we would go to a dairy farm and buy milk out of their bulk tank.. It was so good.. We would let it sit all night and then take the cream off the top. We would go through 4 gallons of milk a week.. $1.00 per gallon. You said you lived in Iowa.. I live in Springville, Iowa. East of Cedar Rapids..

So glad the kids got to see a milking operation.. It's good education.
Have a great day...ta ta for now from Iowa... 35 degrees right now.
Did you go outside and see the stars tonight..? Oh my goodness..
