FIAR- How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World!

We started our book study in search of the freshest ingredients...
just like the character in the book!
It did not take long for all the kids to grasp the authors sense of humor!
Luke quickly made the decision that taking eggs, would be much easier then to take a chicken home! =)
(More egg hunt pictures here!)

One look at this BIG boy...and we came to the same conclusion...
We will just take a gallon of fresh milk!
(More dairy fun..here)

Making butter is always a BLAST!
Mason jar...cream...muscles!
That is all that you need to make your own butter!
Yes, the kids griped about having to shake the jar for about 15 min....
but after they saw the butter, they said...
"We should make all our butter! "

We did not grind our own cinnamon...but we did find the freshest organic cinnamon that we could buy!

Then it was time to do a presentation for DAD of all that we had learned!

Luke and Chelsea made little apple pies...
buy themselves...no joke...I stood next to them and made Chili...
Great activity for little ones...and feeling independent!

Freezer biscuits..
Apple pie filling...
Fold...press with fork...
Bake...350 for 20 min.

Serve!

Chelsea made an art project that was from the book,
She was suppose to make a street that moved as you opened the pages...
but she made the same street....with different weather!
Raining!

Dry!

She put together these street buildings...for her presentation!
Then she told about the lap book...and all the activities that we did as a family!
(lap book and street buildings are from homeschoolshare.com)

Great book and great projects!!!

I have to let my kids be more independent in the kitchen. Why am I such a kitchen control freak?

Have been gone since Thursday and I read all your post that I missed.. I loved the family picture at the table ~ I'll bet the table was filled with lots of chatter ~ lots of lip smacking ~ and now it's filled with lots of memories~! That is what life is all about.. making memories~!
The book project I thought was so cool~! You young girls have so many great ideas..wish I would of had some of these ideas when I was raising my children.
The two girls meeting you at the door ~I'll bet was a big huge surprise... I thought it was very inventive and I chuckled when I saw them pooped and on the floor.. Cute pictures,,fantastic family.
Thanks for your comments on my blog..
