Cupcakes for the class!

Luke, Annika, and I went to Chelsea's class and took her cupcakes for her birthday.
She was really excited because she had asked me to make special cupcakes, and she couldn't wait for the kids to bite into them!
Luke did not want to leave. He loves going to school and seeing Chelsea.
I was able to find Brooke at recess and give her my last cupcake to share with her friends.

Chelsea requested tye dye cupcakes. So I colored my white cake batter 6 different colors and then put them in ziplock bags and put each color into each cupcake liner. They turned out super fun and the kids actually ate them. Usually when I take cupcakes the kids take a bite or two and they are done. I thought it was because they didn't really like them. But I now know its a visual thing. Cupcakes are just too boring, they need some excitement! I them frosted them in white and rolled them in colored sprinkles and put a candy 6 in the middle.
This picture is because I must be a pictureaholic. I got Annika ready to go to Chelsea's class and the next thing I know she is handing me the camera and posing. It was too cute.

We decorated Chelsea's room for her birthday!

I guess it is no surprise that I love birthday's, and the opportunity to highlight each kid one at a time. So we decorated Chelsea's room for her with streamers and Brooke made posters and some balloons. She has been soooo excited to turn 6 that it made it so much fun to decorate for her.
getting ready to go to school and there is the other poster that Brooke made for her.
Wow! Look at Annika's pants. Yes, she fell asleep on the way home from soccer last night.

Chelsea's Class Party!

Chelsea had invited all the girls in her class to come to the park and celebrate her birthday. It was so much fun! I asked Chelsea what her favorite part of her birthday was and she said turning 6. When we went and looked for pinata's their were all kinds of floweres, butterfly's, unicorns, ect. She wanted the 6!

We had the kids decorate their own goody bags with markers and stickers!
Then the kids went on a scavanger hunt to find the #6. I hid 1,2,3,4,5, and 6 around the park area and then gave them clues. They all worked together really well and had a great time helping Chelsea turn 6! As you can see Luke got to hit the pinata also, he just used the wrong end!

The pinata was so stuburn. All 16 kids took 2 turns trying to knock it down and nothing. So finally after some begging from the kids. I decided to take a couple of whacks at it! But I did not make a dent either. We finally just kicked it down!
Luke figured out the perfect spot to collect his goods
Chelsea came up with her own design for the cupcakes and then I did my best to create them.
I wasn't going to put candles in them, since they were just cupcakes, but she reall wanted candles.
I hired a babysitter to come and help me. That was the best idea ever. She helped with anything and everything.
This is a typical Chelsea move. She loves to put her desserts on her face. I guess it's an age thing, since all her friends seem to think it is funny.
Brooke brought a friend and they also were super helpful when needed.
The kids played with Luke as well, and did not seem to mind that he was a tiger.
Annika had no problem finding someone to play with her.
Alicia, my helper, knew how to make balloon animals. It was a big hit and helped take up some time.
Brooke and her friend saw the line and decided to make their own creations.

Lukes was easy. he wanted a snake! I can make a snake!
The balloon hats were the biggest hit!
At the end we played red rover- red rover. The kids just love that game!

Easter 2009 in Lawrence, Kansas

We went to Cliff and Shauna's for Easter this year. This is Easter morning. It was a little crazy, because we were trying to make it to church on time.
When we came home all the kids found their Easter baskets!

Tynon is really growing up!
We had an Easter Brunch right after church. Brooke and Chelsea worked on name tags and napkin holders after school the week before. They turned out super cute.

We had a great time and already miss the Shively Family. Thank you for letting us come see you and have so much fun!

Annika's first Easter Egg Hunt!

Every Wednesday Luke and Annika have a play group that we meet at various parks. It helps me get them some social. This week we met at a local park and had an Easter Egg Hunt. I did not realize how much Annika would enjoy it. I figured Luke was old enough to understand, but I thought Annika wouldn't care. She absolutely loved picking up the eggs. I don't think she ever figured out that there was candy inside. (Her Sisters and brother took care of it for her.)

Madyson's 5th birthday party!

We went to Lawrence, Kansas for Easter and while we were there Madyson had her birthday party. It was so much fun! Shauna had it at a gymnastic gym, and I could not believe how much stuff they had for every age! I wish we had an option like this for birthdays in Pella, I would have everyone there.
For the first 20 minutes it was just the cousins! They had a blast running the place! Here they are listening to the rules, before being let loose.
Chelsea was flippin and running, but when it comes time for a picture she loves to pose!
Brooke loves all the bars. But this was her first time to do a flip on the trampoline. I wish I would have got a picture of it!
Luke got super brave. He jumped from all heights into this foam pit! A couple of times he almost jumped on other kids. But he just loved it!
Annika's favorite was the trampoline. She would have stayed on for hours if there was not a line.
